I was born in Framingham, MA in 1970. Spent most of my youth in Londonderry, NH. At the age of 5 I saw my first movie in a theater, "Star Wars", and a lifelong passion was born. During Junior High in Londonderry I first discovered D&D, and my love of fantasy began. When I was 13, we moved around a little and finally settled in my father’s hometown of Needham, MA. I attended Needham High School for 4 years and graduated in 1988. I attended Suffolk University in Boston from the fall of 1988 until I graduated in 1992. With a minor in Theater I developed a love of characters and developing a story. My senior year in college I wrote my first short play spoofing Shakespeare and College student’s laziness.
I spent most of my twenties trying to find an outlet for the creativity that I had unlocked. I wrote a first novel, which I am determined to never let anyone see. I started writing short stories with my younger brother Brian and developed a group of characters for a hybrid Ghost/Detective series of short stories. I spent some time trying to develop an independent comic, which became a non-starter. I used archetypes based on the characters from the short stories to develop the characters. While I liked how some of the characters developed it was the background universe that intrigued me. After discovering the Sandman comic series by Neil Gaiman, I was inspired to create my own pantheon of universal forces, and James A Owen whose Starchild series inspired me to incorporate classic mythology into my stories.
In 2000 I got married. This led me to not work on anything for several years. It was while we were living in Maine in the year 2005 that my mind wandered to a mental image of a scene. Building forwards and backwards from that point I envisioned a story. This was the beginning of Scéal Casia. I began to write the first outline which only took 2 pages. I then expanded it as a 11-page outline broken down to five planned books. That year I began writing the first book “Lost Prophet”.
Things changed and in 2006 I moved to the Tampa area in FL. Work slowly continued on “Lost Prophet” until I finally started to make progress in 2012 and finished the first draft. Taking some time off from the Novel to get feedback from friends I started in on several other projects. I wrote two short film projects and contributed dialogue for a third. I developed the idea for a Fae/Vampire war that has become my online story Fey Fyre.
Once I received enough feedback from readers, I began the second draft of “Lost Prophet”. I had progressed about a third of the way through the second draft when in 2013 my separation and divorce caused my ability to write be compromised. I spent several years putting myself back together.
Between 2016 and 2018 I met, fell in love, got engaged, and moved to Virginia. With the support from close friends and especially my now wife Faeryn I have gotten back to my writing and feel better more productive than ever. I finished the second draft of “Lost Prophet” in approximately two weeks and have been updating all my projects.
This year I decided that I needed to really stretch my writing muscles. I committed to writing 10 novellas of approximately 50,000 words during the year 2020. You can find more about that it the Patreon section.
