For the last two years of my life I have been a stay-at-home stepdad, and semi full time writer. So, you would think that being in self quarantine due to Covid-19 would not be a big deal. Unfortunately, things are not always that easy. My schedule for the last three months has been pretty stable.
So, I figured that with not having to worry about getting my stepson up and out to school in the morning then I would have more time to do other things in the morning. I could even sleep a little later since I wouldn’t have to finish my workout before he has to have breakfast. The first week was a nightmare and the kid was bored with everything in the house and tried to do his own experiments every five minutes if I let him out of my sight. The entire house was trashed three ties faster than I could keep up with cleaning. I got half as much writing done as I normally would, and that was after I have figured out the perfect environment for me being as productive as possible. Thankfully his dad dropped off his tablet so that he has games to play while he is home so that he is not turning the bathroom into a bio-hazard area with science experiments. I am extremely grateful that my fiancée was able to take some time off of work for several days last week in order to help clean things up and give me a little time to catch up on my writing. And I have to remember to call my mother and apologize for how much of a terror I was as a child.
